Disabling Internet Security Auto-protect while installing Family Book Creator?

Family Book Creator is a brand new plugin for Family Tree Maker and some antivirus software vendors are not aware of these installation packages right now. They are going to report that the software may be a virus or something else.

The Auto-Protect feature might warn you about a virus-like activity and/or also just deletes your downloaded Family Book Creator installation package before you are able to even install the plugin. If you perform such an activity and want to avoid the warning, you can turn off the Auto-Protect feature of your antivirus software.

  • This is how this is done if you are using Norton Internet Security:
To temporarily disable Auto-Protect, locate the Norton icon on your Taskbar, right-click on it and then choose "Disable Antivirus Auto-Protect". You will then be presented with a dialog asking you how long you want to disable the real-time protection. After you choose the amount of time, click the "OK" button.
  • This is how this is done if you are using McAfee VirusScan:
To temporarily disable Auto-Protect, locate the SecurityCenter icon on your Taskbar, double-click on it to open the SecurityCenter. Click 'Virus and Spyware Protection'. Click 'Real-Time Scanning'. Turn off and tell it for how long you wish it to remain that way and then click “Done”.
